Durham Big Sing: Sing Maker Volunteers
Durham Big Sing 2020 has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but will be back in the future and, as ever, will depend on a team of passionate and dedicated volunteers to make it happen. On this page you will find the various ways in which people can volunteer to help with Durham Big Sing. Sing Makers - Festival Volunteers
Durham Big Sing wouldn't happen without the help of our volunteers who support our very small team of staff. Our volunteer 'Sing Makers' are vital to the festival and help us to achieve our core values to:
- Celebrate community singing
- Strive to include everyone
- Create outstanding experiences

- Energise & Inspire
Who are our Sing Makers?
Our 'Sing Makers' will represent the many different types of people taking part in the festival. They might really love singing, be part of a choir or a family member of a singer. Equally our volunteers might not be singers but want to get involved with their community as a local resident, business or student.
There are a variety of volunteer roles available depending on your availability, interests, skills & experience. All our volunteers will be given training, support and guidance and work as part of a team supported by their Team Leader.
Some roles will involve interacting directly with the singers and other roles are behind the scenes. For those who live further away or aren't able to physically attend, we will have digital roles that can be undertaken in your own space.
Volunteering Roles
Here are some of types of things volunteers can help with:
- Meeting & Greeting Singers
- Supporting Box Office
- Providing First Aid
- Supporting Dementia Friendly sessions
- Supporting people with accessibility needs
- Promoting via Social Media
- Providing Photography & Film
- Organising Refreshments
- Event Runner
- Stuffing info packs or envelopes
- Visiting local choirs & groups to promote
- Manning information points
- Driving & supporting transport
